About product

The late form of the Japanese carrier fighter

The designation with the suffix a belongs to one of the later production forms of the famous light Mitsubishi fighter. It differed from the earlier pieces in a strengthened wing skin, which allowed a higher permitted speed in a dive, and in a modified feed of ammunition to the wing cannons. The inside of the cockpit remained spartan: a frame of tubes, open walls without lining and an instrument panel with the prominent tube of the gunsight in the middle.

The density of controls against the size of the part

The Japanese cockpit of that time has an unusually large number of small levers and cocks placed along the sides, because a number of systems were operated by hand. Scaled down, the whole left wall shrinks to an area roughly fifteen millimeters long, on which more than twenty distinguishable elements fall. The print manages them in one step, which on this type means the greatest saving of time of all the accessories that go into the cockpit.

Finishing and protecting the work

Once dry, it is advisable to seal the whole with a thin layer of matte varnish. It is not only a matter of appearance: an unprotected printed surface is easily rubbed by the tweezers or by the edge of the fuselage during the rest of the assembly, and damage in the middle of the cockpit can no longer be repaired. The varnish is applied from a distance and in several light passes, so that the fine relief is not flooded. The gunsight and its glass are glued on at the very end, because they are the most vulnerable in the whole assembly and the hardest to clean. Before you close the fuselage, check the cockpit against the light from the side - at a later stage not even a tip gets inside.

FAQ

A protective layer keeps the surface from being rubbed during the rest of the assembly. Damage inside the fuselage can no longer be repaired.

Not when it is applied from a distance and in several light passes. One heavy layer really would level the edges.

As the very last part. It is the most vulnerable and its glass is hard to clean of fingerprints and dust.

It does not. The kit brings the inner plastic parts itself; here there is only the printed equipment for their surface.
