A set of metal machine gun barrels of 12.7 mm (.50) caliber for B-17F and B-17G bomber kits in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress defended itself with the fire of Browning M2 machine guns of 12.7 mm caliber, placed along the whole length of the fuselage, in the turrets and in the waist positions. It is precisely the protruding barrels of these weapons that are the most visible thing on a finished model, and at the same time fine detail is captured on them worst of all.
The set brings metal machine gun barrels of 12.7 mm caliber intended for B-17F and B-17G kits in 1:48 scale. These are finished replacement parts that take the place of the corresponding parts from the kit. The manufacturer's instructions state their number and their distribution among the individual gun positions, as well as the list of kits the set fits.
Cut the original barrel off with a sharp blade at the root and carefully drill the hole out to the diameter needed, so that the metal part seats without play. It is bonded with cyanoacrylate glue, of which a really small amount is enough. Wash and degrease the metal before painting and use a base color intended for metal surfaces, or the shade will rub off easily. Fit the barrels only at the end of the build, so that they are not bent during further handling. Prepare the small parts over a mat from which they can easily be collected.
The set suits modelers who want to raise the level of a finished kit without major changes to the structure, and it is rewarding on display models that are seen from close up. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
