This product is an aftermarket accessory, not an aircraft kit. The set contains resin landing gear wheels for models of the British Phantom versions (the Phantom in the form for the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy) in 1:48 scale. The wheels have a drawn-out tread and hub and are usually made with a hint of load, so that once fitted the model looks truer than with the plastic wheels from the box.
The British Phantom versions were derived from the American F-4 and adapted to the needs of the Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy, among other things with a different powerplant. They served as fighters and multirole aircraft for a number of years. The landing gear of the heavy Phantom carried massive wheels, and a faithful rendering of them is a rewarding detail.
Separate the wheels from the casting blocks, wash them free of mold release residue and clean them up. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). With loaded wheels, take care over the orientation of the flat contact patch. Sand with respiratory protection; painting is made easier by masking the join between tire and hub.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
