A detailed resin set of wheels for models of the amphibious utility aircraft Grumman HU-16 Albatross in 1:48 scale, the Type 1 configuration. It is not a model of an aircraft but an accessory replacing the wheels from the box with more faithful castings with a fine tread pattern and separate hubs. The wheels tend to be cast with the flattening from the weight of the machine for a realistic stance.
Wheels are a visually prominent part of the landing gear and their faithful rendering markedly lifts the overall impression of a model. A resin casting offers a sharper tread profile and hub detail that injection-molded plastic does not reach. The Type 1 designation refers to a particular configuration of tire and hub according to the real subject.
Wash the parts free of mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and clean them up. Glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate), and sand with protection for your airways. The tires will appreciate a matte blackish gray with dusty weathering.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin accessory. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
