Omask 1:48 Henschel Hs 129 B — double-sided masking set (for the Takom kit)

This item is not an aircraft model but a masking set — an accessory used while painting a kit that is already under construction. It holds precut self-adhesive masks shaped exactly for the clear parts of the Henschel Hs 129 B kit in 1:48 scale from Takom. The designation double-sided means that the set covers the glazing from both sides: the masks are applied to the outer as well as the inner surface of the canopy. The canopy frames can therefore be painted in the camouflage shade on the outside and in the interior color on the inside — a detail everyone who looks through the clear part on a finished model will notice.

Use

• Take the mask carefully off the sheet (pointed tweezers work best) and stick it onto a clean, degreased clear part.
• Press the mask down carefully around the whole perimeter of the frame — how well the edges seat decides whether paint bleeds under it.
• Apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats; a heavy coat creates a step at the edge of the mask and risks tearing the finish when it comes off.
• As a rule spray the interior shade first (the inner side), then the outer camouflage once it is dry; take the mask off once the paint has dried rather than after it has fully cured, so it peels away cleanly.
• Use the set on the parts of the particular kit it is intended for — the masks follow the shapes and spacing of the frames of that kit.

Which model the set is for

The Henschel Hs 129 B was a German twin-engine attack aircraft of the Second World War, designed for the direct support of ground troops and for fighting tanks. It was marked by a heavily armored, very cramped pilot's compartment with a small windscreen of armored glass. It is exactly such narrow frames and small panes that are the hardest to mask by hand — and that is why a masking set pays off on this type. The set is intended for use with the Hs 129 B kit in 1:48 scale from Takom.

Who it is for

For modelers who build the Hs 129 B in 1:48 and want sharp, clean edges on the frames without laboriously applying strips of tape. Suitable for less experienced modelers too — the masks markedly shorten the preparation before spraying and reduce the risk of paint bleeding under tape.

This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The plastic kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
