An injection-molded plastic kit of the Israeli Kfir fighter in the late upgraded C10/C12 form, in 1:48 scale. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. This kit differs from the older versions precisely in its focus on upgraded machines — if you are building a particular aircraft, go by the version designation in the name, because the differences between the individual Kfirs lie in details of the nose and the equipment.
The Kfir came into being in Israel by combining an airframe derived from the French Dassault Mirage 5 with the American General Electric J79 engine. The combination of a delta wing, a markedly shaped nose and canard foreplanes on the sides of the air intakes makes the type one of the most recognizable machines of its generation. The C10 and C12 versions belong among the late upgrades intended for foreign users; compared with the older C2 and C7 they differ above all in the equipment and in modifications to the forward part of the fuselage. The Kfir stayed in service long after it was withdrawn from Israeli use and flew with overseas operators as well.
Finish the cockpit and the nose gear bay before you close the fuselage and settle the balancing of the nose right at the start. Leave the canard foreplanes until the end of the build, so that they do not break off while the model is handled. Dry-fit the air intakes and the way they join; on delta aircraft the transition of the wing into the fuselage tends to be the critical place, where it pays to fill and sand before painting. Apply the decals on a gloss clear and choose the final clear coat according to the scheme.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
