The bubble canopy of the two-seat training version of the light fighter is supplied by Rob Taurus 1:72 F-16 B as a clear replacement.
Responsibility details are not available.
A clear replacement for the canopy of the two-seat Fighting Falcon. On this type the bubble canopy is the most striking recognition feature of the whole nose, and that is exactly why it pays to have it on a model without scratches and without clouding. The part solves the situation where the original piece was damaged during masking or went missing during a long build.
The F-16 B is the training variant of the light multirole fighter, which came about in the mid-1970s and became the most widespread Western combat aircraft of all. The second seat called for part of the internal fuel supply to be given up; otherwise the machine kept the airframe and the powerplant of the single-seat form. The cockpit is famous: a one-piece bubble canopy with no windscreen frame gives the pilot an all-round view and a view forward and down that older fighters could not offer. On the two-seat version the glazing is longer and a transverse frame is apparent between the two seats.
A continuous bubble with no framing forgives the least, because every groove shows on it. Work therefore from fine abrasive to polishing compound and finally go over the surface with a clear varnish, which heals small traces. The reflection of the real canopy tends to have a golden tinge; it can be imitated with a very thin transparent coat, but truly in moderation.
The part offered here serves as an accessory to a build; the machine is bought separately.
