1:48 LTV A-7B/A-7D/A-7E Corsair II male pilot (in a standing position - type 2) is a standing pilot figure for models of the Corsair II attack aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A single male figure in flying kit, modeled standing. The type 2 designation sets the bearing of the body apart from the first variant, so two figures side by side do not look like an impression of the same mold. The intended fit for the A-7B, A-7D and A-7E versions follows from the name of the item.
The Corsair II is a subsonic attack aircraft developed by Ling Temco Vought on the basis of experience with the F-8 Crusader fighter. It first flew in 1965 and entered service two years later. The naval versions flew from the decks of carriers, while the air force received the A-7D designation with a different engine and a built-in rotary cannon. The machine proved itself above all in its ability to deliver a large load to a target with an accuracy earlier types could not manage.
A pilot's coveralls tend to be in olive or sand tones, while the life vest is markedly lighter. It is precisely the contrast between them that holds the whole figure together. Paint the helmet last and in gloss, so that it is set apart from the matte cloth; the visor will take even a thin coat of clear varnish over a dark undercoat. Pick the harness and the straps out with a dry brush, because in miniature they otherwise merge with the clothing.
The painting of the figure remains with the modeler.
