An accessory set of replacement exhausts for models of the MH-60L and UH-60A helicopters, that is, machines of the Black Hawk family, cut for the ICM kit in 1:48 scale. It replaces the exhaust stacks from the kit with finished parts.
The exhausts sit on the sides of the superstructure above the cabin, exactly where the eye and the camera lens fall. In a kit they tend to be split into two halves, so a seam is left on them that has to be sanded, and their mouth tends to be blind. A finished part has a thin wall all the way round and an open mouth, so the exhaust looks like a pipe and not like a sticker on the fuselage.
On the real machine the area around the exhaust is among the most heavily stressed places: the metal takes on a brown color in the heat and a band of deposits runs back along the side from the mouth. It is exactly this transition that makes the difference between a finished model and a model on which you can see that it flew. Work from the base shade through a dry brush on the edges to a faint touch of pigment in the direction of the airflow.
