An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Supermarine Seafire F Mk.XV carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from Special Hobby. The kit, to be glued and painted, is usually complemented by photo-etched parts and clear glazing; it offers finely engraved surfaces and markings for naval squadrons. The Seafire is the naval version of the famous Spitfire, so it will please enthusiasts of British aviation and naval subjects alike.
The Seafire was a carrier fighter derived from the Spitfire and adapted for service with the Fleet Air Arm — it was given a tailhook, a strengthened structure and equipment for operating from aircraft carriers. The Mk.XV version was already powered by the potent Rolls-Royce Griffon engine, which markedly raised performance over the earlier Merlin-powered Seafires. Aircraft of this version served with naval aviation in the postwar period.
Assemble and paint the cockpit before closing up the fuselage; bond the photo-etched parts with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Test-fit the joints dry, fill them and sand them down. Spray a primer over the surface, mask the glazing, lay the shades down with an airbrush, apply the decals onto a gloss clear coat and unify the whole with a final varnish and a light patina. On carrier aircraft it is worth suggesting service wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
