An injection-molded plastic kit of the German 15 cm sFH 18 heavy field howitzer in the version for horse traction. Like the whole of this range, the model is laid out to be simple, with good fit of the parts and a quick build. The package holds the parts of the gun itself; a crew is not included. The model serves excellently as an object on its own and as an artillery element in a diorama.

The real subject

The 15 cm sFH 18 was the standard German heavy field howitzer of the Second World War. It was used to destroy fortifications and artillery positions and to fire into the depth of a defense. Until mechanized tractors were introduced, many of them were moved by horse traction, and the version of this model matches that.

Building and painting tips

Thanks to the straightforward build it is a quick project. We would suggest thin cement for plastic and an airbrush. The gun suits painting in German field gray or in a yellow-brown; light accenting of the edges and dust weathering on the carriage and the wheels give the model a realistic look.
