The Avia S-199 is a postwar Czechoslovak fighter built on the basis of the Messerschmitt Bf 109G. It received a different powerplant and a different propeller from the original machine, which left its mark on its flying qualities and earned it the nickname Mezek, meaning mule, among pilots. Some of the machines carried the late type of canopy known as the Erla: it has fewer frames and hinges to the side, so the view out of the cockpit is considerably better.
A clear canopy in 1:72 scale, formed to the Erla type, and in two versions. One is intended for a closed canopy, the other for an open one, so you can decide how to build the model without having to cut the part from the kit. A replacement canopy tends to be thinner and clearer than the original part, which on glazing you can see the interior through is noticeable at first glance.
Separate the part carefully, level the edge by sanding and polish it so that it seats without a gap. Try it dry as you go, as you can only ever take a little off. Glue it with liquid cement intended for clear parts, which does not fog them; use cyanoacrylate glue near the glazing with care. Mask the frames before spraying and apply the paint in thin coats.
The model kit, paints, glue and masking material are not included, unless stated otherwise.
