A plastic kit of the British BAC (English Electric) Lightning supersonic interceptor in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The package makes it possible to build the F.1A as well as the F.2 and, thanks to a convenient scale, it is a good basis for a quicker yet detailed build.
The Lightning was a British Cold War interceptor with the unusual arrangement of two engines one above the other, which gave it exceptional rate of climb and speed. The F.1A and F.2 versions were among the early production standards and served to intercept enemy aircraft quickly. Characteristic features are the ventral tank and the swept wings.
In the smaller scale, pay attention to clean fit and use a thin cement for plastic. Mask the canopy glazing. We recommend a primer, an airbrush and fine picking out of the panel lines. The natural metal surfaces typical of the Lightning will appreciate a good metallic paint over a smooth base.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
