A set of decals for models of the two-seat interceptor MiG-31 in the BM and BSM versions in 1:72 scale. It is neither a kit nor add-on parts but the markings themselves, with which a modeler brings a plastic model to life. The name gives five camouflage schemes, so several differently marked machines can be built from one sheet one after another.
The MiG-31 is a heavy twin-engine interceptor with a two-man crew, which followed on from the design of the MiG-25 and since the 1980s has made up the backbone of the defense of the vast airspace over the north of Russia. Its strong points are a powerful onboard radar with detection at long range, a long range and the ability to operate in groups linked by a data link. The designations BM and BSM belong to the upgraded forms with renewed avionics and extended armament. Outwardly these machines differ from the older versions only in details, and that is why what decides the final look of a model is above all the right markings and the shade of the camouflage.
Decals hold best on a smooth gloss base, so it pays to varnish the area under them with a gloss varnish beforehand. Trim the markings as close to the artwork as possible, let them soak in warm water and move them with a brush. On engraved lines and transitions a softener helps, which draws the decal into the relief. Once it is dry, the whole model is varnished according to the degree of sheen you want, so that the carrier film disappears.
