The Avenger was a three-seat carrier torpedo bomber of American manufacture, taken into service in 1942. It had an enclosed bomb bay in the fuselage, a dorsal gun turret and a folding wing for parking in the hangar of an aircraft carrier. The TBM version was built under license at the Eastern Aircraft division of General Motors and was powered by a Wright R-2600 radial engine. Besides carrier service, machines of this type also flew from land bases, where the running gear wore differently than on a deck.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with detergent, because release agent residue from the mold prevents the paint from adhering. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine modeling saw, not with nippers, and protect your airways when sanding. They are glued with cyanoacrylate; ordinary cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Apply a base coat before painting, separate the hub from the tire by masking and finish the rubber with matte varnish. Fine dust applied with a dry brush onto the tread gives the wheels credibility.
