The real subject

The F-106 Delta Dart was an American interceptor intended for the defense of airspace. You recognize it at first glance by the delta wing without horizontal tail surfaces and by the slender fuselage; it carried its armament inside the fuselage, not on pylons under the wing. It stayed in service for long decades and flew on into the 1980s, so both the early form and the later version with additional modifications make sense on a model.

Working with the parts

• the parts are not polystyrene and are glued with super glue
• cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the remainder
• before painting, wash the surfaces in lukewarm soapy water and degrease them
• try the fit in the model dry before you reach for the glue
• a base coat helps the paint to hold and reveals unsanded places
