The resin set Reskit 1:72 GBU-31 bomb brings a modern guided aerial bomb as an armament accessory for models of combat aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is an armament accessory, not a model of an aircraft. The set is cast from resin and represents a modern American aerial bomb that can be hung on a model of a combat machine or used as part of a diorama on an airfield apron. Resin allows a sharper shape of the tail unit, of the guidance section and of the mounting parts than the bombs enclosed with kits offer.
The GBU-31 belongs to the family of American munitions guided by a kit designated JDAM. The basis is a classic unguided bomb of the two-thousand-pound class, that is roughly the nine-hundred-kilogram category, onto which a tail guidance unit and an aerodynamic strake collar are fitted. The guidance kit combines a satellite and an inertial system, thanks to which the bomb hits the given coordinates regardless of visibility. Munitions of this type have been in use with the US Air Force and the US Navy since the turn of the millennium and they are ordinary armament of tactical as well as strategic aircraft.
First wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap, then cut the casting blocks off and level the surfaces with abrasive paper; protect your airways while sanding resin. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting. Modern American munitions tend to be in a gray finish with pronounced colored bands marking the type of filling, and these stripes are best managed with masking tape or a decal. Reinforce the mounting on the pylon with a short pin of wire, because the joint of resin on plastic on its own is fragile.
The set is an accessory for a plastic kit. It is supplied unpainted; the glue, the paints and the kit are not included in the package.
