A set of figures of Lithuanian Tatars from the first half of the 17th century in 1:72 scale, meant to be painted by the modeler.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Lithuanian Tatars are the descendants of Tatar settlers who from the end of the 14th century settled in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In return for land and religious freedom they held military service, and in the Polish-Lithuanian state they made up light cavalry units. In the first half of the 17th century, to which the set lays claim, they were known for a swift raid, an edged weapon and a bow, that is, for a style of fighting that differed markedly from heavy cavalry.
It is a set of figures in 1:72 scale for dioramas and combat scenes. The composition of the set, the poses of the figures and the painting guide are given on the box of the set and in the manufacturer's instructions.
First wash the surface in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let it dry. Cut off any excess material with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the surface. When painting, it helps to keep the variety of the clothing within bounds so that the scene comes across as unified: a base, the broad colors, a dark glaze into the folds and a lighter cast on the edges. Leather straps and edged weapons will stand out if you leave them for last.
The set will appeal to anyone interested in the history of central and eastern Europe as well as to builders of dioramas who have a use for a less usual subject. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
