The widest profile of the range, with a section of 1.5 x 5.0 mm and a length of 350 mm, in a package of 9 pieces. The material is styrene (polystyrene), the same plastic as in injection-molded kits. Five millimeters of width at one and a half millimeters of thickness corresponds to a heavy plank or to the flange of a girder, so it suits places where an area is to be distinctly wide and yet thin.
Divide a wide profile by scoring it from both sides; at such a width a fine modeling saw is more convenient, because a snap is harder to keep straight. If you want convincing wood, run a serrated edge or coarser abrasive paper along the surface lengthwise and only then paint it, as the texture will then show through a stain and under a wash. Apply cement for plastics along the whole length of the joint, so that the area does not hold only at points. A primer evens the shade out with the parts of a kit.
For diorama builders and modelers who make their own platforms, ramps and superstructures. It comes into its own everywhere that building up from two narrower strips would leave a visible seam.
Glue, paints and tools are not included in the package. Work over a cutting mat and in a well-ventilated room when cutting and sanding.
