Four figures of deck crew in yellow jerseys, 1:72 scale. The figures stand at rest, waiting for work between two launches.
Responsibility details are not available.
On the deck of an aircraft carrier the trades are told apart by the color of the jersey. Yellow belongs to those who direct the movement of aircraft: the plane directors who guide a machine into place with hand signals, the officers responsible for aircraft handling and the catapult and arresting gear officers. Between two launches they are the most visible people on deck, because it is they who decide where each aircraft moves.
The package holds four figures standing at rest, that is, at the moment of waiting rather than signaling during a move. The dress matches present-day operations. The set follows on from further packages in the same range, from which a crowded deck can be assembled.
Figures in 1:72 scale are tiny, so work over a light surface and clean them with only light passes of a sharp blade, finishing the rest with a piece of fine abrasive paper. Before painting, wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry. Glue them with cyanoacrylate applied in the tiniest drop. Yellow has weak covering power, so lay it over a light base in two thin coats and only suggest the detail with a dark glaze.
The set belongs to a carrier deck scene in a small scale, where figures are the only way of showing the viewer the true size of the aircraft.
The aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
