This item is not an aircraft model but a single resin accessory: an underwing auxiliary fuel tank of 275 gallons in 1:48 scale. According to the name it can be used on models of the F-5E, F-5F and F-5N aircraft, as well as on the F-20 type and on the AT-3 trainer. The package contains one piece, so for a symmetrical underwing configuration you need to count on the matching number of sets.
On light fighters and trainers, drop tanks are hung under the fuselage or under the wing and greatly extend the range, because the internal fuel supply of a small airframe tends to be limited. The tank has a slender aerodynamic shape with stabilizing fins at the rear and is built to be jettisoned. The F-5 family and its derivatives are among the most widespread light supersonic aircraft of all, which is reflected in the fact that the same type of tank served on several different machines.
First wash the casting in lukewarm water with detergent to rid it of remnants of the mold release agent. On tanks the casting block usually runs along the underside or at the rear - cut it off with a fine saw and level the surface by sanding wet. Glue with cyanoacrylate; when seating the tank on the pylon it helps to check the angle dry first, because cured cyanoacrylate no longer allows a correction. Apply primer before painting. Tanks were often in a different shade from the airframe, so it pays to paint them separately and to attach them only at the end.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted, as a resin part. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
