Number 69.029 closes the green scale of the palette for robots from the darkest end. The shade is dense and low in lightness, yet still legibly green, so in shadow it does not look like a dirty black. It is used everywhere the green is meant to be held back: inside load-bearing frames, under the overhangs of covers, in the hollows between armor plates and on parts that are meant to step optically into the background.
It is most effective to lay this tone on before the final coat. Once the part is unified, it is sprayed into every seam and corner, and the main green is then laid over the whole surface in coats thin enough for the dark lines to keep showing through. The result is a depth that cannot be caught up by washing later, because a wash works only in the grooves and does not reach the large shaded areas.
When mixing it with other shades it pays to add it drop by drop and rather more slowly. Its strength is such that a single extra drop knocks the whole batch several steps lower, and the light component can no longer pull it back without changing the character of the tone. Anyone mixing a larger volume should write the ratio down; it saves a great deal of pointless searching when the supply is topped up.
