A light blue with a cast toward white. An Acrysion acrylic paint for the undersides of aircraft, thinned with water.

A light blue with a cast toward white arose from a practical need: aircraft were painted on the underside in the color of the sky so that an observer on the ground would make them out less easily. For modelers today it serves just as well on the undersides of wings as on civil schemes and on small details inside cockpits.
Light tones have a property that is often forgotten: everything shows through under them. Dark plastic, repaired seams and glue residue appear the moment the coat dries. A light base therefore belongs under a sky blue, ideally white or a very light gray, otherwise the result looks dirty.
The accuracy of aircraft shades is discussed often and passionately. The sensible approach is to compare the color with a period photograph and to count on sunlight, wear and the reduction into scale shifting the resulting impression toward lighter tones. A cast toward white therefore does no harm on a small model, rather the opposite.
Light surfaces take later weathering well, because every dark intervention on them stands out. A weak filter, a gentle emphasis of the rivets or a hint of exhaust staining turns a uniform blue into a surface that looks as if it had been in service. What matters is to go in small steps and to step back from the model to arm's length as you go.
