R-33 guided missile, 1:48 is a 3D-printed resin replica of the heavy Soviet long-range air-to-air missile for the MiG-31, in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set holds a 3D-printed resin replica of the heavy R-33 air-to-air guided missile in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft model but an accessory for the external stores. In 1:48 scale it is a substantial piece, on which the detail of the long control surfaces and of the seeker head stands out.
The R-33 is a Soviet long-range air-to-air missile, developed as the main armament of the heavy MiG-31 interceptor. It is guided by semi-active radar homing and, together with a powerful on-board radar, allowed several targets to be engaged at once at long range. The missiles are carried semi-recessed under the fuselage, from where ejector launchers release them downwards. It is exactly this arrangement that gives the MiG-31 its unmistakable silhouette.
Wash the 3D-printed parts in warm soapy water first, to get rid of any print resin residue. Cut the print supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as you can and sand the marks away with respiratory protection. Resin does not bond with polystyrene cement, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Apply a thin coat of primer before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold well on the smooth print. Assemble and paint the armament separately and glue it to the pylon only once the varnish has dried, so that the fine surfaces do not get rubbed.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
