Resin 3D printed wheels for a model of the Su-35 in 1:32 scale with the deformation of the tires under the weight of the aircraft. From the set of the same name without the 3D suffix it differs in being designed for the 3D printed landing gear legs from Temp Models, not for the legs from the kit. Choose according to whether you will be replacing the landing gear legs as well.

The real subject

The Su-35 is a deeply upgraded fighter of the Su-27 family with new avionics, more powerful engines and a vectoring nozzle. A higher take-off weight than the original machine means a greater load on the landing gear, so the tires are clearly settled on an aircraft standing still. The hubs and the definition of the tread match the upgraded form. Printed wheels carry this state over into scale without the simplification a mold demands.

Building and painting tips

First wash the 3D printed parts in warm water with a little dish soap, so that they are rid of the residue of printing resin. Cut the supports off with a sharp blade or a fine saw as close to the part as possible and sand the marks down with your airways protected. Resin does not bond with cement for polystyrene, so use cyanoacrylate glue. Lay a thin coat of primer on before painting, otherwise the paint holds poorly on a smooth print. Fit the weighted wheels so that the flattened part of the tire sits on the surface, otherwise the model does not stand naturally.
