A mid brown shade for wood, leather, a rust base and mud. A paint with a solvent lacquer binder, a 10 ml bottle, intended mainly for an airbrush.

A balanced brown tone with no marked shift toward red or yellow is among the shades a modeler reaches for on almost every build. It paints a wooden deck and the stock of a rifle, leather harness and the padding of seats, and it goes down as a base under rusty patches and deposits of mud in wheel arches. In small doses it calms an overly raw green or sand when you are mixing your own camouflage tone.
Although this line is commonly listed among acrylic paints, it works with a nitrocellulose binder and organic solvents. That is exactly where its advantages come from: the coat literally bites into polystyrene, the resulting film is unusually thin and tough enough to take masking tape and coats laid over it with no consequences. It can only be thinned with lacquer thinner, ideally the slower version, which levels the surface smooth.
It is usually mixed roughly half and half for the gun and applied at low pressure in two or three passes with a short pause. The bottle holds 10 ml, which once thinned covers a surprisingly large area. Brown also gets on well with pigments for later dusting; they hold on it better than on a smooth gloss. Flush the gun through immediately after finishing work, as a hardened lacquer film can only be removed from a nozzle with great difficulty.
