MS Yellow

What kind of paint it is

A yellow shade carried under the name MS Yellow and the manufacturer's part number UG03. It belongs to the Gunze Mr.Color line and to the range for Gundam kits. Lines prepared for one family of kits tend to have their shades chosen so that they match its color schemes, so you go at a model more confidently with them than by mixing from general basic colors.

How to apply the paint

Stir the contents of the bottle thoroughly before use; the pigment settles at the bottom while it stands. Use the thinner intended for this line and set the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging. Apply it in thin coats and let each one flash off; one heavy coat floods fine detail and dries unevenly. Try out how it behaves in a mixture with paints of other brands on a spare piece of plastic, not straight on the model.

Painting tips

Yellow covers poorly, on a dark surface it pulls toward green or brown, and without preparation not even five coats will save it. Lay a light base color under it, ideally white, and spray the shade itself only onto that. Wash and degrease the surface of the model beforehand; fingerprints on smooth plastic only stand out under the paint. Apply masking tape to a dried coat before spraying the next shade and take it off carefully at a sharp angle. Close the bottle right after work and keep it dry and away from frost.
