Landing flaps for the Raytheon U-125 in 1:72 scale, intended for Sword kits. The wing gets its high-lift devices extended instead of a smooth lower surface.
Responsibility details are not available.
The U-125 is the military form of the twin-engine Hawker 800 series business jet, which was built under the Raytheon name. It is operated by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, so a machine with a civil, smooth silhouette appears in colors and markings you would not expect on a business aircraft. And that is exactly what makes it a rewarding model: everyone knows the shape, but the combination with military equipment and Japanese markings is unusual.
Replacement landing flaps in 1:72 scale for Sword kits, which allow the wing to be built with the high-lift devices extended. On jet aircraft of this class the underside of the wing is usually one smooth area in a kit; extended flaps divide it, add depth and shadow and give a model an expression that at first glance looks like work on a much larger kit.
Draw the opening in the wing out first and score it, and only then cut, and rather in two passes than in one deep stroke. The parts are not polystyrene, so super glue holds the joints. Cut the excess material away a little from the part, sand the remainder off and wash and degrease everything before painting. On aircraft with a glossy finish the flaps and their surroundings are usually the dirtiest place on the whole machine, so discreet soiling of the lower surface looks more credible than perfectly clean paint. Check the symmetry of the two sides by looking from behind, not from above.
For modelers of jet aircraft in 1:72 scale who build a machine in the landing configuration and want to see more than a smooth area on the wing. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
