A Hataka modeling paint from the Red Line range in a 10 ml bottle. The shade is called Extra Dark Green, that is a very dark green, and the manufacturer gives the number FS 34064 for it. FS is the American federal color chart, in which every tone has its number. Paint makers refer to it so that it is clear which subject the shade comes close to and so that a tone can be compared across brands. The leading three in that number belongs in the chart to the group of matte shades.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles to the bottom. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging, that is always the thinner intended for this range. Mixing different ranges with one another does not pay off, as the binder can curdle and the finish then goes grainy. Apply several thin coats instead of one heavy one and let each become tacky. Wash and degrease the surface beforehand and even it out with a primer.
Dark shades cover readily, but they swallow light and fine surface relief disappears on them. Reckon therefore on a continuous dark area looking darker still on a model than on the color chart, and on the edges and pressings being worth highlighting. Make your decision from a test spray on a spare piece of plastic that you let dry, not from looking at a screen.
The paint is supplied on its own. Thinner, primer and clear coat are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
