A styrene (polystyrene) profile shaped like the letter I, that is an I-beam, from Plastruct. The section is 6.4 mm high (H) with a flange 3.2 mm wide (W) and the material is 1.3 mm thick (T). It is a modeling semi-finished material, not a kit. This sturdy I-beam stands in for load-bearing beams, bridge structures and frames on mock-ups of buildings, cranes and halls and in dioramas.
The profile is parted with a sharp blade or a modeling saw and the cuts are leveled by sanding. It is glued with ordinary cement for polystyrene or with cyanoacrylate glue. The material can be painted like plastic models, best with a primer before the top coats.
For modelers and mock-up builders who need a sturdy styrene I-beam for modifications, conversions and building dioramas and architectural models.
