IJA 30 Karekusa Iro (Dry Grass) is a bottled acrylic modeling paint from AK interactive in the aircraft range - thinnable with water, for a brush and for an airbrush.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a bottled water-based acrylic paint from the aircraft range of the Spanish brand AK interactive. It is neither a spray nor a lacquer: the binder is acrylic, so the paint is thinned with water or with an acrylic thinner of the same type and the brushes are cleaned with water right after work. The shade carries the Japanese name karekusa iro, that is the color of dry grass, an ocher khaki tone from the palette of the Imperial Japanese Army Air Force of the Second World War.
An acrylic paint must not be mixed or thinned with lacquer (cellulose) or enamel thinners, because a different chemistry curdles and the result is a grainy surface or a blocked nozzle. Shake the bottle thoroughly before each use, because the pigment settles at the bottom. Always thin the paint for an airbrush and spray in several thin coats; a heavy coat floods the engraved panel lines and the rivets.
For modelers who build Japanese aircraft and want a shade matching the period palette without mixing their own. Lay the paint onto a cured primer, because acrylic holds less well on bare plastic and especially on smooth glossy parts. For a long-lasting surface it is advisable to spray the finished model with a protective varnish compatible with acrylic.
The paint is intended for modeling use. Work in a ventilated room, use respiratory protection when spraying and keep out of the reach of children.
