Novinky is a Czech plastic modelling magazine published by MPM, and this section gathers its issues in one place. Each is identified by a sequential number, so a gap in a run can be closed precisely. The mix is deliberate: release news, galleries of finished models and practical articles, so one issue serves both as an overview of what can be built and as a source of methods you can try the same evening. Below we explain how to use the section.
Mixed content is a strength rather than a compromise. A single issue gives you news of what has appeared, a gallery of completed work and a method you can test straight away. Galleries in particular are an undervalued source: a photograph of a finished model says more about how far to push weathering than pages of description.
Issues are not tied to a volume year, so the sequential number is the only marker. If you are filling out the run, keep a note of which numbers you already own. Issues do not build on one another, so they read perfectly well on their own and gaps in the sequence do no harm.
Release news naturally dates. Methods and galleries do not, and older issues double as a timeline: they let you establish when a particular boxing or subject first appeared, which helps when tracking down older kits and detail sets.
Language matters more in method articles than people expect. The distinction between a glaze, a wash and a filter, or an exact thinning ratio, is far harder to read in a foreign language. For a Czech beginner that argument can outweigh the richer photography of imported titles.
