Wargaming asks different questions of a painter than display modelling does, and Aktion Magazine is built around them. Instead of documenting one machine in forensic detail, it deals with painting units of miniatures quickly and legibly, and with building playing surfaces that survive being picked up, knocked and packed away. Individual issues of the series are listed separately, each with its own contents.
A gaming miniature is judged at arm's length, so the work leans on stronger contrast, drybrushing and fast glazes, and the whole unit has to read as one force. Figures to paint sit in model figures, bases and game-side extras in wargame accessories, and the tools for the job in modelling brushes.
