A modeling aid from the tools section, intended for working with modeling paste when shaping muddy surfaces. The manufacturer's instructions state exactly how it is used.
Responsibility details are not available.
It is an aid from the modeling tools, classed with work on modeling paste. According to the name it is aimed at shaping muddy surfaces, that is at the part of building a diorama where smooth paste is turned into churned ground, a deposit on tracks or a trace in the earth. Exactly how the tool is used and which paste it is intended for is described in the manufacturer's instructions.
Modeling paste can be shaped only while it is still pliable; once it has set, the surface only tears. It therefore pays to prepare a smaller amount and to work in sections. To keep the paste from sticking to the tool, wet it with water or use a product made for the paste in question. Make the texture in uneven strokes rather than regular ones, because a regular pattern gives away that it is the imprint of a tool and not a trace in the ground.
Clean the tool straight after work, while the paste has not hardened; dried remains are hard to remove and can mark the next surface. Store it dry and apart from sharp blades, so that the working face is not scratched.
It will be appreciated by builders of dioramas and display scenes who want control over the texture of the ground rather than relying on ready-made pastes alone. It also suits small adjustments of the surface on a base under a single model.
The tool alone is supplied. Modeling paste, paints and pigments are not included, unless stated otherwise.
