Models of palm trees for layouts and dioramas that lend a scene a southern character.
Responsibility details are not available.
Greenery decides where a scene takes the viewer. A conifer sets a layout in the mountains, a linden on a village green and a palm on a coast or in the warm south. A palm also works as a vertical element: a slender trunk takes up almost no room on a base, yet it breaks the horizontal line of a scene and lends it depth.
Palm trees look believable when you spread them out irregularly and at various heights. A row of equally tall trees lined up as if by a ruler gives a model away at first glance; a small group of two or three pieces, where one stands out and the others are lower, looks natural. Before gluing, hold a tree up to a building or a vehicle in the scene and compare the height, so that the size matches the rest of the layout. It also pays to leave free space between the trees: dense growth from edge to edge takes the air out of a scene.
Drill a hole in the base to suit the diameter of the trunk and glue the tree into it, so that it stands firmly and upright. With taller pieces it pays to reinforce the joint in the hole with a drop of glue and to let it dry thoroughly before you start moving the scene. Then mask the foot of the trunk with grass, sand or small stones, so that the transition to the terrain is not visible. Blow the dust off a finished scene or sweep it away carefully with a soft brush.
The package holds palm trees. A base, terrain materials, buildings, vehicles, figures and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
