An AK Interactive modeling paint from the Real Colors range in the shade RAF Ocean Grey, the gray of the upper surfaces of British day fighters. A 17 ml bottle.
Responsibility details are not available.
Ocean Grey is a medium bluish gray that the Royal Air Force introduced during 1941 for the camouflage of day fighters. On the upper surfaces it replaced the brown used until then and so complemented the dark green, while the lower surfaces went with it in a lighter gray. This trio of shades remained common on British fighters until the end of the war.
The shade is essential for British day fighters of the later part of the war, where it forms half of the upper surface camouflage. It also suits elsewhere, wherever a medium cool gray without a cast toward brown is needed. Combined with other shades of the same range you can put together the whole British scheme, including the lower surfaces, the cockpit interior and the recognition markings.
The bottle has to be stirred thoroughly before use, because the pigment settles to the bottom. The paint is applied in several thin coats onto a degreased, dust-free surface, ideally over a primer that evens out the absorbency of plastic, filler and accessories. Thinning, spraying pressure and the cleaning of tools follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging; use a thinner recommended for this range. With gray shades it pays to spray really thin, because a heavy coat fills fine surface detail and the machine then looks smooth and without texture.
The paint alone is supplied, in a bottle of 17 ml. A thinner, a primer, a final varnish and tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
