RLM 78 is a light blue that the German aircraft chart reserved for the lower surfaces of machines deployed in warm regions. Compared with an ordinary blue it reads cleaner and it is noticeably richer than the very pale RLM 76, with which it is easily confused. On a model it is recognized exactly by its context: it belongs to a scheme with a sand upper finish, not to the European gray scheme.
On the lower surface of the wings, on the underside of the fuselage and the tail surfaces and, on some machines, on the sides of the fuselage as well. The upper surfaces in this scheme tend to be in a sand shade, sometimes with added green mottling. Because the particular form differs from machine to machine, compare the drawing in the kit instructions with photographs of the subject before you start masking.
The paint is supplied in a volume of 17 ml. Do not return the remainder from the cup to the bottle, to keep dirt out of it. A thinner, a primer, varnish and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. For thinning, cleaning tools and storage, follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging. Work in a well-ventilated room and keep the bottle carefully closed and out of the reach of children.
