Smrk s kmenem 300 mm

Spruce with a trunk 300 mm (Model Scene)

A handmade model tree from the Czech diorama vegetation manufacturer Model Scene. It is supplied finished — nothing to assemble, nothing to paint and no foliage to add; it is planted straight into a scene. Because every piece is made by hand, it differs in the shape of its crown and the density of its branching, so the trees do not repeat visually in a stand.

The real subject

The Norway spruce is the most widespread commercial tree of Central Europe. It has a narrow conical crown, branches arranged in whorls and dark green needles that do not fall all year round. In a closed forest the lower tiers of branches die off from the bottom up and a bare trunk remains, whereas a solitary tree in a cut area or at the edge of a stand keeps its branches right down to the ground — the scene you are building therefore decides how you plant it and how you cover the foot of the trunk.

Use in a scene

The spruce is the basic building block of Czech and Central European forest scenes, mountain lines, snow-covered scenes and military dioramas in forest terrain. It looks better in a group than on its own, even when the trees are turned in different directions and sunk into different heights of terrain. Plant it into a pre-drilled hole and secure it with cyanoacrylate or hot glue. Cover the foot of the trunk with turf, static grass and sprinkled needles. For a winter scene it is enough to dust the crown lightly with white pigment or a dry brush, not to bury it completely.

Who the tree is for

• builders of forest and mountain dioramas
• modelers of railroad layouts and modules
• makers of military scenes in Central European terrain
• modelers who want finished vegetation without making it themselves

The tree is supplied finished, assembled and foliated. The base, the terrain material and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
