An injection-molded plastic kit of a Viking ship of the drakkar type after the find from Oseberg, in 1:180 scale from the Czech manufacturer Smer. The model captures the slender open ship with a high decorated bow, a single mast with a square sail and a row of oars. It is a small kit with a low part count; the assembled model measures around 13 cm and is suitable for beginners as well.
The Oseberg ship is one of the best preserved Viking ships to have survived, discovered in a burial mound in Norway. It dates from the beginning of the 9th century and belongs to the drakkar type — a long, shallow ship driven by oars as well as a sail, which the Vikings used for voyages, for trade and for raids. The Oseberg ship became famous above all for the rich carved decoration of the bow and the stern, and today it is a rare monument of Nordic heritage.
Glue the parts with a thin cement for plastic and clean up the joints. Seat the oars symmetrically, the mast upright, and balance the sail with its yard using the rigging. Tone the wooden hull in shades of brown and accent the carvings with dry brushing; bring the shields on the flanks to life with the colored decals. Seat the finished model on the stand supplied.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
