A texture material for making terrain from the Wargame Terrains line, on the theme of volcanic soil. Meant for figure bases, gaming boards and dioramas.
Responsibility details are not available.
A texture material gives a flat board or a smooth base a surface that looks like real soil. Volcanic ground has a dark tone, a coarser grain and a cracked character, so it suits a burnt landscape, the surroundings of a crater or fantasy scenes where the ground is to look inhospitable. The Wargame Terrains line is aimed at gaming tables, where a larger area has to be covered quickly and yet firmly.
First free the base of dust and grease, or the compound will come away once it has dried. According to the consistency the manufacturer gives on the packaging, apply the material with a spatula or an old brush and spread it in an uneven thickness; a perfectly level layer looks artificial. Let the thicker places dry through properly, and with a greater thickness even overnight. For thinning and for cleaning the tools follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Let the ground rise toward the edges of a path and around stones, as transitions look more natural than a uniform surface. Once it has dried, bring the surface to life with dry brushing: a lighter shade will pick out the raised grains, while a darker glaze will run into the hollows and add depth. Scatter small stones, dry grass or ash onto the layer while it is still damp, and it will hold them itself. Do the figure bases in the same spirit as the board, so that the scene holds together.
A base, figures, paints and scatters are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
