This is a water-based acrylic modeling paint from the 3rd Generation Acrylic range. It is thinned with water or with the acrylic thinner of the same manufacturer, not with a lacquer or enamel thinner, and it is not mixed with paints of a different chemistry. The figures label means that the shade belongs to the part of the range the manufacturer put together for painting figures, their uniforms and their equipment. A brownish gray tone is a typical member of the so-called broken colors, which look more convincing in a small scale than pure brown or pure gray. It is used for uniform items and camouflage patterns of the Second World War, but also for canvas, leather and dusty textiles in general.

Use

• Shake the bottle thoroughly before work, the pigment settles at the bottom.
• Apply it to a degreased and primed surface, in two or three thin coats.
• For brush work the paint is ready as it is. For an airbrush, thin it with water or with acrylic thinner.
• The brownish gray behaves well as a mid tone. You get the shadow by adding dark brown, the highlight by adding light beige or gray.
• Wash the brushes out with water right after work; dried acrylic is hard to get out of the bristles.
• At the end, even the surface out with a matte or satin acrylic varnish.

Who the paint is for

For modelers who paint figures with a brush and need a broken brownish gray tone for multicolor uniform patterns. It also comes into its own on equipment, haversacks, strapping and canvas accessories on models of military vehicles. A water-thinned acrylic is also suitable for work at home, because it calls for no solvent thinners.

Store the paint in a well-closed bottle out of the reach of children and work in a reasonably ventilated room. The shade as shown on a monitor may differ from the real thing.
