A cast resin accessory in 1:144 scale, not a model of an aircraft. The subject of the set is the Rolls-Royce RB211-524H engine nacelle as the Boeing 767 carried it. The choice of engine is a fundamental distinguishing feature on the 767: the aircraft was delivered with several different powerplants and their nacelles differ noticeably in shape and in length. Anyone building a particular machine of a particular carrier needs for the model precisely the nacelle the aircraft actually had — and a base kit offers it in one variant only.
The RB211-524H is a more powerful member of the RB211 family, built on the Rolls-Royce three-shaft concept with three independently rotating rotor assemblies. In civil service it powered the long-range variants of the Boeing 767 and other large airliners as well, and it was the British answer to the American engines in the same power class. Compared with the American installations the nacelle is longer and slimmer, which on a model changes the overall impression of the aircraft at once.
Wash the casting in lukewarm water with dish soap, so no mold release agent stays on it. Cut the pour blocks away with a saw and level the surface with a file; resin goes faster under sanding than plastic, so work in small stages, ideally wet and without inhaling the dust. It is glued with super glue; ordinary cement for plastic does not work here. Apply a thin primer before painting. Paint the inside of the intake and the fan blades while the part is accessible, and leave the metallic shades to the end.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a base kit are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
