This is a sheet of waterslide decals in 1:144 scale from Siam Scale, intended for a model of the Sikorsky UH-60L Black Hawk transport helicopter in the service of the Thai ground forces. The package holds the decals themselves; the model, paints and clear coats are not part of it. The sheet suits modelers who want to finish their helicopter in less usual foreign markings instead of the standard American national insignia.
The UH-60L is an improved production version of the medium multi-purpose Black Hawk helicopter. Compared with the original version it received a more powerful powerplant and a strengthened transmission, which improved performance at higher temperatures and at greater altitudes. The machine serves for carrying squads of soldiers, for resupply, for casualty evacuation and for support of rescue work in natural disasters. Helicopters of this type are used in the Southeast Asian region above all in transport and humanitarian roles.
Always apply decals onto a smooth gloss surface, or air bubbles will remain under the film and what is known as silvering will appear. Cut the piece out as close to the print as possible, immerse it for a few seconds in lukewarm water and let it stand until the film slides freely on the backing. Put a drop of water on the spot, move the decal over and blot the excess with a cloth. In 1:144 scale the insignia are very small, so work with smooth-jawed tweezers and good lighting. On rounded surfaces and around rivets, a decal softener applied with a brush will help. Once everything has dried, spray the whole model with matte or semi-matte clear, which visually suppresses the edges of the film.
The decals are supplied on their own. The model, paints, clear coats and decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
