Aber 1:16 Tiger II Vol.2B – Grilles is a photo-etched brass set of cooling grilles for the engine compartment of a large scale model of the Tiger II heavy tank.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a photo-etched brass detail set from the Polish maker Aber in 1:16 scale, not a tank kit. The set replaces the coarse plastic cooling grilles over the engine compartment of the Tiger II heavy tank with fine, pierced photo-etched parts whose look comes close to real pressed sheet metal. The Vol.2B designation marks it as one of the companion subsets of an extensive series for this tank.
The Tiger II (Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. B, nicknamed Königstiger or King Tiger) was a German heavy tank of the end of the Second World War, armed with the 8.8 cm KwK 43 L/71 gun. The cooling grilles on the engine deck carried heat away from the power unit and in reality were made of a fine mesh that plastic parts usually cannot imitate faithfully.
Separate the photo-etched parts carefully from the fret with a sharp blade on a glass surface, make the bends on a photo-etch bending tool or against a steel rule and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue, or by soldering. Degrease the parts before painting. An airbrush and a good primer are recommended so that the paint adheres well to the metal.
The set is an accessory, not a model. The base kit of the tank, glues and paints are not included in the package.
