An unassembled and unpainted injection-molded plastic kit of the Nissan Bluebird sedan in the sporting 1600 SSS version as it looked at the end of the 1960s. The model belongs to the historic car range of the Japanese maker Hasegawa, which builds Japanese production subjects consistently in 1:24 scale. The exact package contents, the number of parts and the extent of the decal sheet are given in the enclosed instructions.
The Bluebird of this generation was built from the end of the 1960s and became known for its clean, angular body and, for its day, a modern chassis with independent suspension. That is exactly what made the car successful in rallies and on circuits and earned it a reputation as a good-handling sedan. The SSS designation belonged to the more sportingly tuned versions of the range, and the number 1600 in the name refers to an engine displacement of roughly 1.6 liters. The model captures the car as it was in 1969.
A body with sharp edges and flat sides forgives nothing, so spend time sanding the parting seams and on the base coat. After the primer, spray the covering shade in thin layers and finish the surface with a clear varnish and a light polish. The chrome strips, window frames and bumpers stand out with a chrome-look foil or when carefully drawn with a fine brush. A 1960s interior tends to be colorful, so it pays to set the upholstery apart from the dashboard and to add a fine highlight on the instruments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
