An Aber 1:24 set of two barrels for the German 13 mm MG 131 aircraft machine guns are turned metal barrels as a replacement for the plastic parts. A detail accessory, not a kit of an airplane.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of two precisely turned metal barrels in 1:24 scale from the Polish brand Aber. It is a detail accessory for large models of German Second World War aircraft, not a kit of an airplane. The metal barrels replace plastic parts, which in this large scale look coarse, tend to carry a parting seam and have a blind muzzle. Machined metal offers a thin wall, a genuinely drilled muzzle and resistance to bending while the model is handled.
The MG 131 was a German 13 mm aircraft machine gun from Rheinmetall-Borsig, built from the beginning of the 1940s. It replaced the older 7.92 mm weapons because it brought markedly higher effectiveness while keeping compact dimensions. It was used both in fixed installations above the engine of fighters and in the defensive positions of bombers. In 1:24 scale in particular the weapon is large enough for every inaccurate detail to show.
Cut off the plastic barrel with a sharp scalpel or a saw and open the hole in the cowling or the mounting out with a hand drill if needed. Degrease the metal part with alcohol and glue it with cyanoacrylate glue, which holds better on metal than plastic cement does. Lay down a base coat for metal before painting. The barrels are usually rendered in a dark gunmetal shade with discreet highlighting of the loaded areas and light traces of fumes at the muzzle.
The set is an accessory to a kit; the model of the airplane itself is not included in the package. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
