The kit is made by the Japanese company Aoshima, which has long devoted itself to Japanese production and modified cars.
The Mark II of the X80 series was introduced in 1988 and is among the most distinctive representatives of Japanese mid-size sedans of the late 1980s. An angular body with thin pillars and wide glazing, a driven rear axle and a longitudinally mounted inline six-cylinder engine made it a popular car both with ordinary drivers and later in the community around Japanese sedans. The designation GX81 refers to the two-liter variant of the inline six-cylinder engine; the name Twincam 24 denotes the valve train with two camshafts and twenty-four valves. The Grande equipment stood at the top of the range and brought a more luxurious interior and exterior fittings.
The key is a smooth body: clean up the mold parting lines, sand it down and apply a primer. For a sedan of this era a rich single-color or two-color finish suits, or period combinations with a more pronounced dividing line; spray the paint in thin coats and varnish it over with a gloss varnish that can be polished to a high gloss. Leave the chrome and plated parts until the end and clean them up only carefully, so that the plating is not rubbed off. Bring the window frames and the trim strips out with matte black over masking tape. Finish the interior and the chassis before you close the body up. Do not glue the tires with a cement for plastic.
