Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains castings of American M44 general-purpose high-explosive bombs in the 1000 pound weight class, in 1:32 scale. It is an accessory to an aircraft model, not an airplane kit.
General-purpose bombs made up the bulk of the load carried by American-built bombers and fighters in the Second World War. The M44 type belongs to the thousand-pound class: it has a cylindrical body with a conical nose, suspension lugs on the side and a box tail frame with stabilizing fins. That tail frame is what decides the look on a model, because it is made of thin sheet and in 1:32 scale every detail on it shows, so a coarsely molded plastic part is distracting at this size.
In 1:32 scale the bombs are large and fairly heavy, which changes the procedure. Level the mating face left by the casting block by wet sanding on sandpaper laid on glass, because a flat face is the basis of a strong joint on a heavy part. Resin dust must not be breathed in; for longer sanding put a respirator on and wipe the bench with a damp cloth. The thin stabilizing fins of the tail frame, by contrast, are fragile: never hold them while cutting and lay the casting on a soft surface. Wash the parts in soapy water before painting. When spraying, hold the bomb by a wire pushed into the hole in the tail or into a suspension lug; holding it by hand means fingerprints. Glue it to the pylon with cyanoacrylate glue only once the painting is finished, and hold the joint for a moment, otherwise a heavier part slides off before the glue sets.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
