A scenic accessory from the manufacturer LIANG Model intended for building bases, vignettes and dioramas. It is neither a model nor a kit: you get a set of printed crystal formations that are set into rock, into the ground or into rubble and give a scene a striking element that carries the eye. The set is adapted for three common scales, so it serves as a universal material rather than as a part cut for one particular model.
Crystals work best as a group with a difference in height: one dominant formation, two or three smaller ones around it and a few tiny fragments at the foot. Settle them into the surface so that they grow out of the material rather than standing on it. Fill the gap around the foot with modeling putty or structural paste and sprinkle pigment over it, and the joint will disappear and the formation will come across as grown in. The letter in the name distinguishes the individual variants of the range, which can be combined.
On printed material, translucent techniques look best. Apply a white or silver base and onto it thin coats of clear tinting paint, so that the depth accumulates. Bring out the edges with a dry brush in a lighter shade and leave the tips almost white. A high gloss at the end will add the impression of glass. Anyone who works with lighting in a base can light the crystals from below with a small diode, but the channel for the cable has to be prepared while they are being set in.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
