A set of figures cast in resin in 1:35 scale. It is an accessory for vehicle models, not a kit of equipment in its own right. The subject is the crew of a German tank of the late phase of the Second World War, and the name refers to the fact that the figures depict fallen soldiers, a motif used to finish a scene on a diorama. Resin allows finer rendering of the folds of clothing and of faces than injected plastic usually does, so the castings stand up to a closer look.
Before gluing, wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water to remove the residual release layer from the mold, otherwise paint will not hold on them. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutter rather than breaking them off. It is bonded with super glue, as ordinary plastic cement has no effect on resin. Sand wet and with respiratory protection, as resin dust must not be breathed in. The set is therefore rather for more experienced modelers.
Start with a base coat, which evens the surface out and reveals any air bubbles or parting lines. Build the uniform and the skin up from a darker base toward lighter layers, and fine-tune the shadows and transitions with oils or thinned acrylics. Finally, even everything out with a matte varnish; gloss on figures in this scale is distracting.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and a vehicle are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
